Scale: Keep it small!
Oven, fridge, cook top and garbage compactor:
- Use a microwave and conventional oven combination
- Keep the fridge to an under-counter size.
- Use a fully recessed infrared burner for cooking.
- Use a narrow garbage compactor.
- Cooker hoods now come in a pull-out system that slides back when not in use.
- Use a small single sink that also has a fitted chopping board to cover the bowl when not in use.
Hints:
- For the cook top, if using gas, make sure it has a steel or glass cover that can be put down over the burners. That way you can use it as a worktop area when not cooking. If using electric, use one of the new infrared glass cook tops that can also serve as a work surface when not in use.
- Have as much cabinet space as possible preferably all the way up to the ceiling and make sure corner cabinets have revolving shelf systems inside so the corners of the cabinets are used to capacity.
